CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
As a primary health care provider Dr. Burke treats all health conditions, with a special interest in women's health and in particular, hormonal health, thyroid conditions, fertility, menopause, and peri-menopause. Dr Burke is trained in advanced hormone testing methods such as the DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones), a sophisticated and comprehensive hormone test, which is great for understanding and resolving complex hormone conditions. Dr Burke also analyzes and interprets genetic profiles, looking at the interactions between your genes to design personalized health programs which provides information specific to you on how you can support your metabolism, detoxification and hormones just to name a few.
Dr Burke additionally treats digestive concerns such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), abdominal pain, bloating, heartburn, etc. by using a five (5) step approach to get to the root cause and promote optimal stomach and digestive health.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Prior to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr Burke graduated from the University of Buckingham in England with a degree in Biochemistry. She went on to pursue a career in scientific research where she worked for research, pharmaceutical companies, and the Hospital for Sick Kids in the field of genetics. Dr Burke went on to complete a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies with a focus on Ethnobotany (the study of herbal medicines in traditional and native communities), where she worked with indigenous communities in Jamaica learning about indigenous herbal medicines and assisted in documenting this traditional knowledge for a book "Healing Herbs of Jamaica". This passion for natural healing led her to study Naturopathic Medicine. Dr Burke graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto.
Dr Burke is a board licensed Naturopathic Doctor and is a member of good standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO), and an active member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors.
